Linen postcard shows a patriotic Welcome Flyers coat of arms, made from the rattles of 925 diamond-back rattlesnakes, on display at the Buckhorn Curio Store in San Antonio, Texas. Measuring 2 1/2 x 5 feet, the artistic work was done by Mrs. Albert Friedrich, wife of the Curio Shop's founder. Mailed by Pvt. E.B. "Buddy" Wilson, serving in the Army Air Force during World War 2. Postmark ed 1942; excellent condition with light corner wear as seen in the photo. Roadside America, oddity, unusual objects, reptiles.
